Campus recruitment is becoming more competitive both for corporates and students alike. It could be a chance of a lifetime and you could miss the bus if you are not prepared.

  1. Prepare for aptitude tests. Aptitude tests are conducted to eliminate all number of candidates to make the recruitment process more easier. If you have not worked on your aptitude skills, you might find yourself out of the race even before you start it.
  2. Practice your communication skills. You do not need to have the perfect English. Recruiters are looking for people who can express what they think, not English majors.

Some companies are willing to make an investment in an employee and, therefore, are willing to train. Since new grads tend to identify more closely with their first company, the company can be assured of greater company loyalty. They also work for lower salaries. Companies that do this successfully tend to do better at succession planning and promoting from within, and often offer benefits that cement the long-term relationship with the employee (stock purchase/contribution plans and company-funded savings plans that vest, for examples). An alumnus is an automatic link to the next generation of grads, so the recruiting process becomes easier over time as well and the cost-per-hire is kept low.

Initial Days

I started my campus recruitment experience in PSG Institute of Management in 2004. We were the first batch of PGDM in campus and knew that in order to face the stiff competition from students of other courses like MBA and MPIB, we had to be different.

First, we thought of branding ourselves with a new identity. Our course PGDM was given a new tag and a new identity "Pure Geniuses Dominating Minds" , an expression we wanted to create for ourself.

We created an identity in campus by winning various inter collegiate events.
